Dr. Paige Hurst

Dr. Paige Hurst attended Indiana University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health. From a very young age she knew she wanted to help others. She went on to attend Logan University where she graduated Cum Laude in 2022.

After being unsatisfied with many other health professions she had experienced and seeing how Chiropractic helped her throughout multiple sports injuries, she knew Chiropractic was the career. She saw that Chiropractic could help with way more than back pain, it didn’t require medications, and it allowed the body itself to do the healing.

While attending school, she completed extra hours training & learning the Gonstead technique, pregnancy and pediatric chiropractic care and hormone health care. Dr. Paige is Webster certified, which allows her to further assist women throughout pregnancy.

The Gonstead Technique

Within Chiropractic, there are many different techniques, or ways to adjust the body and allow for better healing.

The name Gonstead comes from Dr. Clarence Gonstead, who practiced this method for over 50 years. Dr. Gonstead was first an engineer, which later helped him throughout his thought process of creating the technique. He was heavily focused on the biomechanics of the body. It all started when he came down with bad Rheumatoid Arthritis and once he found Chiropractic care, he was able to walk once again.

What is the Gonstead Technique and what makes it different?

Specificity is key with the Gonstead Technique. When you go to see a Gonstead Chiropractor, you should experience the 5 main criteria included:

Visualization- Visualization allows the doctor to see swelling, redness. bruising, pimples, scars, muscle tightness and much more, which is important as it gives the doctor more insight on spinal problems occurring in said area. This component helps confirm palpation and x-ray findings.

Instrumentation- Instrumentation within the Gonstead system is called the Delta-T or the Nervoscope. This device has thermocouplers on the ends that detect and read heat in the back. Heat in the back occurs when we have a misalignment in the spine, because pressure is put on the nerve. This instrument is guided down your entire back to find those areas of inflammation and find areas that should be closely paid attention to.

Static Palpation- This is where the doctor feels (palpation) the spine without moving the patient. By doing this, the doctor is able to find areas of swelling, tenderness, tight musculature and any other abnormal texture that may occur in the back due to a misalignment in the spine. It is another tool that helps us get even more specific to find the root cause of pain or nervous system dysregulation.

Motion Palpation- This involves feeling how the spine moves while moving the patient in different angles, minimally. It allows the Chiropractor to find exactly how the joint is stuck, so that it can be re-aligned exactly how it is meant to be.

X-ray Analysis- In this system, we utilize full spine x-rays on all patients except for pediatric and pregnancy. These x-rays allow Dr. Snyder to visualize the structure of the spine in it’s entirety. It allows for better evaluation of posture, joint and disc structure, ruling out pathologies, vertebral misalignments and how a joint needs to be realigned to restore proper nervous system and body function. After x-rays are taken, they are throughly analyzed and discussed with the patient so that care is specific to each individual and their spine.

The Webster Technique

This Webster Technique is used by certified Chiropractors to help restore balance of mother’s pelvis in order to reduce nervous system stress and optimize pelvic function, throughout pregnancy and birth alike.

Benefits of receiving Webster Technique include reduction of low back pain and labor time and optimal pelvis and nervous system balance for mother throughout pregnancy.

Active Release Techniques

Active Release Technique or ART is a hands-on movement protocol that focuses on soft-tissue and nerve issues, such as strains, sprains, and musculoskeletal disorders. It is helpful in alleviating pain and restoring function for faster recovery.
